History of Gran Sasso (Part II) – Growth, Evolution, Global Reputation
A New Era: The Headquarters and Expansion
The turn of the Millennium marked a decisive moment in the history of Gran Sasso. In 2002, work began on the design and construction of the brand’s magnificent headquarters in S. Egidio alla Vibrata. Spanning over 36,000 square metres, the new facility was conceived as more than a production site—it became the beating heart of the company, uniting production, storage, administration, showroom, and even a dining area under one roof.
The headquarters were designed with a clear focus on space efficiency, innovation, and the wellbeing of more than 400 employees, supported by cutting-edge machinery. This bold investment demonstrated Gran Sasso’s long-term vision: to create not just garments, but an environment where excellence could flourish.
At the same time, Gran Sasso expanded further with the opening of a new plant in Roseto degli Abruzzi, dedicated to cotton loom weaving. Remarkably, the site was salvaged from an old furnace once used for handmade brick production, symbolising the company’s ability to transform the past into the foundation of its future.
Craftsmanship Meets Modern Industry
From the start, Gran Sasso has distinguished itself through its sartorial craftsmanship. Every product continues to be hand-finished to ensure that each item remains exclusive and unmistakable.
Today, Gran Sasso has become one of the leading players in knitwear and casual wear, balancing tradition and innovation at every stage of production. The brand’s commitment to quality is not a slogan—it is visible in the details of every garment, from premium yarn selection to final finishing.
The Third Generation and Global Presence
Gran Sasso’s journey is also a family story. In recent years, members of the third generation have joined the company, ensuring that the founding values of craftsmanship, authenticity, and innovation continue to guide the brand’s evolution.
This family spirit supports Gran Sasso’s global reputation, reinforced by a dedicated industrial dyeing plant and a prestigious showroom on Via Montenapoleone in Milan—one of Italy’s most stylish and internationally renowned fashion streets.
Gran Sasso today stands as an ambassador of Italian knitwear excellence, admired worldwide for its combination of heritage, innovation, and timeless style.
