Gran Sasso: Where Mountains Meet Craftsmanship

The Spirit of the Mountain

Gran Sasso d’Italia, the highest massif in the Apennines, has always stood as a symbol of strength, purity, and timeless beauty. Rising above the Italian landscape with majestic power, it embodies the values of resilience, harmony, and nature’s perfection.

From these mountains, the brand takes not only its name but also its spirit — strong roots, natural beauty, and Italian pride. Like the massif itself, Gran Sasso knitwear is built to endure: solid foundations, timeless lines, and a beauty that is never fleeting.

1952 – The Birth of an Italian Legacy

Just as the mountain serves as an eternal landmark, so too does Gran Sasso’s craftsmanship stand the test of time. In 1952, in the small Italian village of Sant'Egidio alla Vibrata, south of the Marche–Abruzzo border, four visionary brothers — Nello, Eraldo, Alceo, and Francesco Di Stefano — laid the foundations of what would become one of Italy’s most prestigious knitwear houses.

Their entrepreneurial spirit was matched by their passion for producing garments that balanced elegance, authenticity, and quality. What began as a modest family business soon grew into a beacon of true Made in Italy craftsmanship, reflecting both heritage and innovation.

1970 – The Rise of a Global Style Authority

By the 1970s, the vision of the Di Stefano brothers had taken flight. Gran Sasso became a name synonymous with sophistication, refinement, and effortless elegance. The brand’s relentless focus on quality knitwear and its deep belief in timeless style propelled it beyond the borders of Italy. Success at home was soon followed by a strong international presence, cementing Gran Sasso as a global ambassador of Italian luxury.

Today, every Gran Sasso piece carries this history within its stitches — a blend of tradition, innovation, and the eternal inspiration of the mountain from which it takes its name.
